
Between Italy and New Zealand there is no specific Scientific Agreement, though co-operation in this field can be comprised within the Cultural Agreement of 1979.
However, Italy and New Zealand have an Agreement for Antarctic Co-operation signed in Wellington in 1987. The agreement is the framework for extensive co-operation in this area, in particular between the Italian base Mario Zucchelli and New Zealand Scott base.
Since April 2006, an arrangement on staff exchanges exists between the Department of Conservation of New Zealand and the Ministry of Environment and Land Protection of Italy.
